eRappu -blogi

eRappu is a collaboration project and network of Higher Education Institutions (HEI) in Turku region, Finland, in order to develope eLearning, eTeaching and cooperation between the HEI´s. The main target of the E-Rappu is to gather the educational use of IT -interested people together in the Southwest Finland and to create new synergies between the institutions of tertiary education and private sector (networked collaboration over the boundaries) in order to raise the human capital and social capital of the field/industry and region. We are trying to keep in mind that people are not interacting with computers but with other people face to face and using also the networked media created by the information technology industry.

Tänään laskiaistiistain aattona 15.2.  Oulun kaupungin Rotuaarilla osoitti mieltään Oulun yliopiston henkilöstö. Syynä olivat YT-neuvottelut, jotka koskevat 1600 henkilöä. Suomessa on siirrytty uuden yliopistolain mukaiseen aikaan ja tätäkö se “fantastinen uudistus” nyt on, YT-aikaa?

Google kuvasi kameroineen Suomen kadut ja kujat ja IT (uusi tietotekniikka) osoitti taas voimansa: miljardit ihmiset voivat nyt katsella katujamme ja kujiamme. (Voi kauhistus, totesi IS!) . Jos Google kävisi läpivalaisemassa Suomen korkeakoulut (ja niiden opetusinnovaatiot), löytäisikö se korkean aidan takaa saman mitä kamera-auto: eläkeläispappa munasillaan housut linkoissa? Tämänhän löysivät T. Turkki & EVA aivan hiljattain kun olivat “Nykyaikaa etsimässä“. Googlen kamera ehkä löytäisi korkeakouluväkeä, joiden matkustamiseen, ajankäytön seurantaan, taloushallintoon ym. arkeen on istutettu IT (Personec, Rondo, Sappi, Travel, Sole TM…). Mutta kun kamera kääntyy opetukseen, niin mitä se löytää: Suomen virtuaaliyliopiston arkun, liitutaulut, massaluennot…

Mitä tapahtuu maailman rotuaareilla? Viime viikolla ilmestyi Educause Review-lehden uusi numero otsikolla Innovation: Rethinking the Future of Higher Education.  Mukana on neljä artikkelia, joissa nousee esille erityisesti IT:n merkitys. Korkeakoulujen sisältä ja ulkoa valikoidut kirjoittajat valottavat tulevaisuutta monin eri tavoin.

Don Tapscot & Anthony Williams mm. kirjoittavat:  “Universities are losing their grip on higher learning as the Internet is, inexorably, becoming the dominant infrastructure for knowledge — both as a container and as a global platform for knowledge exc.” ( Tämän jutun osalta kannattaa tutustua myös sen lopussa olevaan Tony Batesin kommenttiin (jota don Don pontevasti puolestaan kommentoi), joka löytyy myös täältä ja siinä mukana mielenkiintoinen jatkokeskustelu). Blogissaan Don-poika jatkaa: “The transformation of the university is not just a good idea; It is an imperative, and evidence is mounting that the consequences of further delay may be dire.”  Sana dire voidaan tässä suomentaa näin: YT.

Brenda Gourley (Open Uni.) Englannista kirjoittaa: “If we don’t grasp the opportunity, I find it difficult to imagine the continued success of universities as worthy institutions.” Ja jänniä juttuja kirjoittaa myös Diana Oblinger, joka referoi uunituoretta raporttia (The Future of Higher Education, Beyond the Campus), jota ovat yhdessä olleet tuottamassa neljä suurta toimijaa Australiasta, USA’sta, Englannista ja Hollannista.

Kun otat vasempaan käteen tuon em. raportin ja oikeaan käteen Horizon-raportin, voit hetken kuvitella olevasi lähellä tulevaisuuden kristallipalloa.

Siis kumpi tie tulevaan: YT vai IT?
